summer skin is a whole different thing honestly

Right so I've been thinking about this a lot lately because the weather's been all over the place here in Tenby — one day proper sunny, next day horizontal rain and wind off the sea. Classic. But the last few weeks when the sun's actually shown up, I've noticed my skin behaving completely differently to how it does in winter. Winter I'm slapping on thick moisturiser morning and night, my skin feels tight and a bit battered from the wind. Summer though? It's almost the opposite problem. I get a bit oily through the T-zone by like 2pm, and if I use the same heavy stuff I reach for in January I just end up looking a bit... greasy and clammy. Not ideal when you're on the hotel reception and talking to people all day. The SPF has always been non-negotiable for me, all year, but in summer I switch to a lighter formula — one that doesn't sit heavy under makeup. I've tried a few over the years and honestly the ones that double up as a moisturiser work better for me in warm weather because it means one less layer. Less is more when it's hot, I think. My skin just wants to breathe a bit. The other thing I've noticed — and I don't know if this is just me — is that I actually need less product in summer overall but I need to be more consistent with it. Like in winter I can get away with skipping my evening routine once and it's fine. In summer, one lazy night and I wake up and my skin looks a bit dull and tired. Probably the sun taking more out of it through the day. I've been trying to keep on top of the collagen as well which I think helps, just feels like my skin recovers a bit better when I'm being good about it. Mind you, the sea air here does its own thing entirely. I genuinely don't know if it helps or wrecks my skin — probably both depending on the day.

yeah I get this on long runs in summer — sweat plus sun and my skin just does its own thing. staying on top of hydration makes a noticeable difference for me, not just for the run itself
